Day-by-Day Itinerary
Day 1: Travel to Nyungwe – Colobus Monkeys & Mugisakura Waterfall
Depart from Kigali and journey southwest to Nyungwe National Park. On the way, visit local waterfalls and spot playful Colobus monkeys along the forest edges. Arrive in Nyungwe and visit the Mugisakura waterfalls before settling into your lodge near the forest.
Day 2: Cyamudongo Chimpanzee Trek & Canopy Walk
Start early for the Cyamudongo Forest chimpanzee trek — an unforgettable encounter with Rwanda’s primates in their natural habitat. In the afternoon, enjoy the iconic Nyungwe Canopy Walk, suspended high above the rainforest with breathtaking views.
Day 3: Short Trail Hike, Zipline Adventure & Cultural Journey to Huye
Enjoy a relaxed short nature trail followed by an adrenaline-pumping zipline experience through Nyungwe’s forest canopy. Later, travel to Huye District to explore the Ethnographic Museum before continuing to Nyanza to visit the King’s Palace Museum — a window into Rwanda’s royal history.
Day 4: From Southern to Eastern Province – Bugesera Birdlife & Elephant Circuit
Travel east through scenic landscapes to Bugesera, known for its rich wetlands and birdlife. Experience the Elephant Circuit trail and enjoy birdwatching before heading north toward Akagera National Park.
Day 5: Akagera National Park – Wildlife Safari & Departure
Embark on a morning game drive through Akagera National Park, home to elephants, lions, giraffes, zebras, and antelopes. After the safari, relax and begin your return trip to Kigali, marking the end of your remarkable journey.
